Seminar on Ports, crime, security and governance

12 Nov 2020

This session will synthesize and critically present the policy-relevant findings of multiple primary research projects conducted by the authors in seaports worldwide, including but not limited to the ports in Europe (Antwerp, Genoa, Liverpool, London, Rotterdam); North America (Montreal, New York); Australia (Brisbane, Melbourne); Africa (Tanger Med, Dar es Salaam); and Asia (Singapore, Malaysia). It will also draw on findings from recent knowledge exchange exercises between port security and policing practitioners and academics. In preparation for publication of a practice-oriented and agile book the presenters will here discuss and summarise their work ideas and brainstorm problems and analytical frameworks to narrate the complex interface between ports, crime, security and governance.
